We only collect information that is strictly necessary to provide you with a meaningful and seamless habit-tracking experience. This includes:

• Account Information: When you sign up, we may collect your email address, phone number, and a display name for social features.
• Habit Data: Information about your habits, schedules, and progress to help you track your goals.
• Health Data: With your explicit consent, we may integrate with Google Health Connect to automatically track health-related habits (e.g., steps, sleep).

2. Permissions We Request

HabitLoop requires certain permissions on your Android device to function effectively. We want to be completely transparent about why we need them:

Core Functionality

• Internet & Network State: Used to securely sync your habit data, social challenges, and friends list across devices, ensuring your progress is backed up.
• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Essential for sending you timely habit reminders, challenge updates, and friend requests.
• Alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM & USE_EXACT_ALARM): Required to deliver precise, on-time reminders and friction alarms so you never miss a habit.
• Boot Completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Ensures your habit reminders and alarms are automatically rescheduled if you restart your phone.
• Vibrate: Used to provide haptic feedback when completing habits and for alarms.
• Full Screen Intent: Allows critical friction alarms to wake your screen so you can act on them immediately, ensuring you stay committed.
• Foreground Services: Used to keep focus timers and active app blocking running smoothly in the background without being interrupted by the system.

Focus Mode & App Blocking

If you choose to use our Focus Mode to minimize distractions and block certain apps, we request the following:

• Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Allows us to detect when you open a distracting app so we can help you stay focused.
• Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): Used to draw a focus overlay screen when a blocked app is launched, gently reminding you to stay on track.
• Query All Packages: Needed to show you a list of installed apps so you can specifically select which ones you want to block during focus sessions.

Social & Personalization

• Read Contacts: With your explicit permission, we use this to help you easily find and invite friends to your social circle or habit challenges. We do not store your entire contact list on our servers.
• Camera: May be used if you choose to take pictures for habit proof or scan friend invite codes.
• Biometrics (USE_BIOMETRIC): Used to secure the app and keep your habit data private from others who might use your phone.

Health Connect Integration

If you enable Health Connect, we may ask for permission to read specific health data such as Steps, Hydration, Sleep, Calories Burned, Distance, Exercise, and Nutrition. This is strictly used to automatically log progress for related habits. We do not sell or share this health data with any third parties.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to improve your HabitLoop experience. This includes tracking your progress, displaying your stats, managing social challenges with your friends, and providing personalized reminders. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information and habit data. Your data is synced securely using encrypted connections.

5. Your Rights

You have full control over your data. You can delete your account and all associated data directly from within the HabitLoop app settings at any time. You can also revoke any permissions (like Health Connect or Contacts) through your device's system settings.
